Large octavo, 245pp. plus 13 blank pages headed"Your Own Recipes", with chapter headings drawn by Marion Rombauer Becker. Terrific recipes, though scarcely written with today's children in mind (but perhaps useful for a traditionally raised man), plus Mrs. Rombauer's wonderful stories and explanations, as well as a section on menus plus an index. An average copy: the edges are stained and there are a few internal stains as well. There is an erasure on the front free endpaper and the price-clipped dustjacket is soiled and taped. However, the ink-and-white checked binding, with titling in blue, is in very good condition, and the book is perfectly tight in its binding, and without anyone's comments.or notes written in.

12mo, 33pp. One of the earliest post-prohibition publications, (reprinted from articles in the December, 1933 and January, 1934 issues of Redbook). Prohibition had just ended early in December, 1933, and the articles were aimed at an American public that had grown up under the 18th amendment and were unaccustomed to alcohol except as a bootlegger's stock in trade. Novelist Julian Street, (1879-1942), an expert on wines, considered that "the years of Prohibition reduced us as a nation to a style of drinking as low as any people, civilized or uncivilized, ever reached." A charming and opinionated book, nicely printed in red and black, slightly foxed, primarily on the endpapers, bound in pale salmon cloth on board, blue cloth spine, the whole mildly shelf-rubbed. Not in Bitting, though his two books on Paris and French wines are listed there.

Large, fat quarto, with 1536pp., and thousands of b/w illustrations. This is the edition lssued week after week in twelve parts, collected, saved, and then put into a binder in the proper sequence and held together between boards with posts and screws. A massive compilation. In this copy, parts 11 and 12 are still in their original boxes, as issued , and are ready to be inserted, finally, into the book. The title leaf for part 8 has been torn and repaired, otherwise the book and the unbound parts are as new in very faintly worn pumpkin yellow pictorial boards. The owner has pasted the section descriptions from the original mailing boxes, through section 10, onto the front inside cover, with room left for the two not yet inserted. Laid in is the instruction sheet for assembling the binder, as well as the folded publicity sheet in color that came with part 1.
